Make Amazon Pay

We all love a bargain and in lockdown I am sure many of us will be internet shopping tomorrow, trying to find Black Friday Christmas presents.

But for many, especially Amazon workers, this comes at a cost. So tomorrow the GMB will be highlighting the conditions that Amazon workers face every day of the week both in this county and around the world.

The GMB Black Friday Amazon campaign is part of a Global Day of Action. We are taking action with our Global Trade Union Amazon Alliance friends in around 22 other countries on the 5 continents, along with our global union affiliates UniGlobal Union and the International Transport Workers’ Federation. Other global union federations, the ITUC/ British TUC are also promoting these activities.

For the first time social and environmental groups, NGO’s will strategically partner and assist with our trade union campaign, these include War On Want, Oxfam, Progressive International, Amnesty UK & International, 350.org, Oxfam, Tax Justice, plus many others, all coming under the banner #MakeAmazonPay.

We have organised a Facebook Live Zoom event on the 27th November at 17.30hrs and we have several friends, amazon workers and politicians that have agreed to speak and take part in this event. This is the link to join the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1017463688721681/

You can also join the debate on social media using the hashtags #MakeAmazonPay and #AmazonWeAreNotRobots and please copy GMB regional and national social media accounts and @rixyieorganiser and GMB at Amazon on FB.

Let’s help create a social media storm tomorrow and remember not all Black Friday bargains are the same.
