We can all recognise the horror of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At our last branch meeting we voted for the following motion.
This branch notes that on the 24th February Russia invaded Ukraine.
We oppose the Russian state’s invasion of Ukraine. We oppose Russia’s war and demand Russian troops leave Ukraine. Putin’s regime is responsible for this war.
We recognise that there are up to 3m refugees fleeing Ukraine.
We support and admire the anti-war left in Russia, and seek to defend those arrested in Russia for taking action against the war.
We agree to donate £250 to the Disaster Emergency Committee Ukraine refugee appeal.
We call on the Government, Parliament, the political parties to,
- Implement effective sanctions
- Set up effective and generous refugee acceptance programmes
- Purge itself of Russian funded corruption
